Counseling VS Coaching
Counseling VS Coaching
Counseling:
Counseling is a long-term process in which a client usually has diagnosis from the DSM-V and works with a healthcare licensed professional. A counselor or a therapist diagnose, resolve problematic beliefs, behaviors, relationship issues, negative feelings and sometimes physical responses. Counseling focuses on past traumas, guides to change self-destructive habits, repairs and improves relationships, and works through painful feelings. A counselors’ training allows them to work with people who needs help with managing, coping, and educating selves to live a healthier life. Counselors work with mental health conditions, such as Depression, Anxiety, substance abuse, relational conflicts, grief/loss, and a wide variety of clinical diagnosis.
You will benefit from counseling if you have:
Symptoms or diagnosed mental health condition and want to be healthier, function better, be more productive and learn coping skills. Counseling also helps individuals by increasing insight and self-awareness by identifying the roots of problematic thinking, issues, and learning about their diagnosis.
Coaching:
Coaching tends to focus on the present and future rather than the past. Coaches help people identify goals and obstacles. Coaching involves guidance and support, while placing a great deal of emphasis on accountability. Coaches work with people who are basically healthy and functional but not reaching their full potential due to self-limiting beliefs and negative talk. Coaches address individual’s mindset and attitude by discovering root causes.
You will benefit from coaching if you are:
Seeking Career, Relational, Parenting, and Personal advancement to gain a fresh perspective on personal challenges. Coaching creates an opportunity to enhance decision-making, interpersonal effectiveness and increase confidence. Coaching creates appreciable results in productivity, personal satisfaction with life, relations, work and goal achievements.
Coaching will also benefit you if you desire personal growth, career growth, are dealing with recurring problems, going through important life/work/relational transitions or intense situations, and are seeking clarity.
How does both work:
As a Licensed Clinician and Coach, we may start within a place of pain or fragility, and when meaningful growth is achieved through work in counseling, we may continue moving forward into coaching sessions to provide support, guidance, motivation, and personal accountability to attain life goals.
